Community Support
The members of the String-A-Long Quilt Guild recognize the importance of giving and sharing our knowledge, time, and talents on both local and national levels. These are some of the organizations that we support.
Quilts of Valor - String-A-Long Stars and Stripes of NW Indiana
The QOV mission is to cover Service Members and Veterans touched by war with comforting and healing Quilts of Valor. In the past ten years, 850 quilts have been awarded to local veterans.

To nominate a veteran to receive a QOV quilt, go to www.qovf.org and click on “Nominations/Awards”.

The group meets in Chesterton, Indiana on the he first Thursday of each month to sew.

Comfort Quilts
Using donated fabrics and fabrics from our stash, the guild donates quilts to comfort children in need.
All comfort quilts are being donated between Gabriel’s Horn Shelter in Portage, The Caring Place in Valparaiso, and CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate Association) in Valparaiso.
We donate gently used quilts, knitted blankets or any other type of blanket which are taken to Housing Opportunities in Valparaiso.
Northwest Health Hospital
Neo-Natal Unit (NICU)
Using donated fabric and batting as well as materials from our stash, the group donates small baby quilts and fleece blankets as well as knitted and crocheted blankets and hats to the babies. Over 700 quilts have been donated over the last four years. The group has also helped to design and sew incubator covers.
We support our local businesses and members' businesses.

There are classes, clubs, and retreats as well as 2,500 square feet of fresh cotton fabric, patterns, kits, notions, hand dyed wool, and cross-stitch selections.
