Community Support
The members of String-A-Long Quilt Guild realize the importance of giving and sharing our knowledge, time, and talents on both local and national levels. These are some of the organizations that we support.
Quilts of Valor -String-A-Long Stars and Stripes
of NW Indiana
Patriotic quilts are presented to service members and veterans to thank them for their service and to give them comfort. Many guild members join community members in Northwest Indiana to participate in monthly sew-ins. Contact stringalongQOV@yahoo.com with questions. More information can be found at qovf.org.
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
Northwest Health (Porter) Hospital
The neonatal unit (NICU) of the hospital is where premature babies spend the beginning of their lives until they are old enough and well enough to go home.
We make a variety of items for their use: baby quilts to give to parents when the babies go home, incubator covers to provide darkness at times for babies as they grow, and fleece blankets that are rolled or folded and put in the crib to help them to develop.
Family and Youth Services
and Housing Opportunities of Porter County
Using donated fabrics from our stash, SAQG has donated over 450 comfort quilts to children of all ages.
Sensory quilts for young children are also contributed.
